A Summation to Introduce the

Warsaw Community Arts Center, Inc.

We, the founders, of the Warsaw Community Arts Center, Inc. are pleased to inform the local and surrounding residents of Warsaw, Indiana of our intent to foster, promote and teach the arts to the populace in general.  We have grand goals and are determined to bring them all to fruition.  The following paragraphs will broadly outline and summarize our objectives and the activities presently planned to achieve them.

One of the Arts Center’s main objectives will be to teach the arts to the public through classes, courses and demonstrations.  These will be taught by professionals and other artisans that qualify to teach in their respective fields of expertise.  The Arts Center will offer the facility, resources, and assistance to make these educational objectives successful.  We will work with the local artists and not against them.  If a class or course is already being taught or offered to a specific group, then we will not compete with them by offering the same class to the same group.  It is our goal to promote the Arts and artists of our community and the surrounding communities, and we will strive to avoid conflicts with that goal.

A related objective will be to promote the Arts to the public through events, seminars and lectures.  We will offer *monthly exhibits that will each be of specific content.  During these exhibits, there will be guest speakers and professional artists to expound on the cultural and artistic value of each exhibit.  *We will solicit city, State, and National museums and other sources to bring a continuous and eclectic representation of art that encompasses every culture and facet of the Arts worldwide to be displayed within the Arts Center for public enhancement.  We will work with the local and surrounding public school systems and home school groups through our “Public School Partnership Program” and our “Home / Private School Partnership Program.”  The activities required to accomplish these objectives are going to be an ongoing learning experience due to the vast and varied nature of them.

Other and no less important objectives will be to award **internships, grants and scholarships to local artists.  The grants will all be of the same monetary amount and be awarded to those qualifying applicants as discerned by a selection committee each year.  The Arts Center will also award several internships to qualifying local artists as discerned by a selection committee to help with their portfolios and experience before continuing into a professional art career.  Each year, we will offer scholarships to qualified applicants as discerned by a selection committee to various pre-approved institutions and facilities that specialize in the Arts.  Continued education in the arts will be promoted and supported through these programs and many others that will be developed as the need and resources arise.

The Warsaw Community Arts Center, Inc. will support the local professional and amateur artists by allowing them an environment in which they can *exhibit their talents to the general public.  The Arts Center has well defined policies in place to assure that no exhibit or event will be intentionally offensive to the staff, artists, volunteers or guests.  We will try to cater to everyone’s interests and needs and achieve an acceptable balance between the two.

We look forward to everyone's input in this endeavor to make it the success that is desperately needed in a world where the Arts are being removed from our public schools and devalued by society.  It is important to our future generations that we give ourselves and our children the opportunity to express our talents.  We truly appreciate everyone's support and would like you to contact us with any suggestions, questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Derrick A. Haniford

Executive Director

*Many programs and events will come into existence only after the WCAC has been in residence of a facility for the time needed to make them feasible.  Those programs and activities will be announced as they become available.

**The Grants, Scholarships and Internships will be announced as the resources for those programs become available
